The ECC Youth Theatre Summer School 2025

Exploring the Art of Stagecraft

The basic concept of this summer school is to introduce children to the different aspects of stagecraft – all the things that go into making a production come alive, be that on stage or behind the scenes.

2 Sessions – July 7-11 & 14-18

Who Dunnit?

This year our muse will be the classic Murder Mystery game, Cluedo.  Mrs Peacock, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum and other characters will  help inspire us to create mysteries of our own, whilst learning what’s involved from start to finish.
During the week we aim to take your young thespians beyond the performance aspect of a show.  Alongside core drama activities, we also uniquely offer our students the chance to get hands-on with one (or more) of the behind-the-scenes activities, whether that is understanding the elements of scriptwriting, creating a visual impression through scenery or props, creating a “look” with costumes, or building/enhancing the atmosphere with lighting and sound effects, in addition to learning some lines, songs, and choreographed dance moves!
We want to show them that a performance is the coming together of many different elements in order to tell a story and offer students who are more interested in being behind the scenes the chance to learn and grow as well.
All this, while bearing in mind that the kids come not only to learn, but have fun!  And trust us, they will come home invigorated and exhausted!
